About this item

"Thinking back to the summer of 1989, 'Hollelujah!' seemed logical to release, after 'Blast!' had reached number one on its first week in the UK album charts. I felt confident that it would be welcomed especially for the remix of Love Train by the much-missed house music legend Frankie Knuckles, which had only been available as an expensive US import. Americanos, the second single and the biggest hit from Blast!, was probably the earliest remix in this collection. There were other really great remixes, such as the Mount Olympus Mix of Heaven’s Here by Julian Mendelsohn. We holed up for the day in SARM West Studio Two, as favoured by George Michael and a host of other recording artists. This was in fact the same studio where Relax had been recorded(a version of, anyway) and the same room I had sung The Power of Love . Other tracks, such as Perfume with Martyn Phillips, were remixed in Marcus Recording Studios, Fulham. The title track was recorded there with the lovely and talented Tim Hunt. The cover painting was a detail of a portrait I’d commissioned. It looked like summer sunshine and seemed the right image for the album. I’m really happy, Thanks for listening, Holly Johnson."
