About this item

The Pinnacle of Spiritual Jazz! With its breathtaking melodies and refined grooves, this masterpiece - praised by Gilles Peterson - shines as one of the greatest albums in the history of Chicago’s underground scene.

Saxophonist and flutist Prince Billy Mahdi Wright, a key figure in Chicago’s underground jazz scene, released his only leader album, "You Got That Wright", on his independent label in 1980. This remarkable record features legendary Chicago bassist Eldee Young, known for his work with Young-Holt Unlimited, and includes the stunning track “Summer Love”, a favorite of Gilles Peterson, as well as the beautifully ethereal “Tune Weaver”.

A deep and soulful blend of spiritual jazz and rare groove, this album has long been revered as a collector’s gem. The original pressing commands premium prices, and even the 2021 reissue remains difficult to find. Now, this essential piece of spiritual jazz history is reborn in a 180g heavyweight / 45 RPM edition!
