About this item

Shadow Pressings have been causing quite a stir with three mysterious releases traversing the Chicago and Detroit spectrum, dishing out OGs and cheeky refixes in equal measure. So far the only artist to have revealed himself on the label is Mike Agent X Clark - with this and the second instalment currently shrouded in secrecy.

"The Messiah" seems to mine Lil Louis' vintage Musik Box-themed DATS for its source material, seemingly plucking elements from his "I Called You" EP and doing a bit of an aural shuffle of the elements. Any dancers with a historic leaning on the development of HOUSE should vibe off this opening joint.

"It Started In Chicago" hammers home the house message with a shuffled to fuck groove that'd make Glen or Boo blush. Add typically Windy City vocal idents, some squiggly sfx and an incessant bass and synth interplay and you've got a driving peaktime beast that'll have you swining off the rafters in no time.

"How Does It Feel" ramps up the glitz and glamour, touching on almost funky house vibes with its upfront beats, well known vocal sample and strings that'll strike at your heart strings

"Changes" concludes with a scuzzy and fuzzy hardware jam that's stands proudly in its own style. Hard to chuck any comparisons onto this one - but it'll get the speaker stacks humming deliciously and is bound to get at least a few derriere bumping early on in the evening's escapades.

Top stuff from this sure-to-be cult collected label.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: First release on Shadow Pressings which I have to say have been causing quite a stir around these parts. Part Muzic Box inspired; rubbing down old tropes, injecting new life into classic moments of dance music's past. Proper.
