About this item
Following on from their well received debut, Theordor return with "Holocene" released again on Broc Recordz.
If their self-titled debut established the instrumental funk and soul credentials, then "Holocene" certainly highlights their advanced song craft and multifaceted talents. Drawing from the psychedelic sounds of 60s and 70s soul, you can hear the well recorded nuances of expensive jazz drum kits, the shimmering tremelo of a guitar line, or the reverb soaked vox and keyboards of a summery motif. But with "Holocene" their arrangements have gotten more advanced, more varied, more accomplished; the band, made of up Robert Her, Lui Hill, Maximilian Schneider, Gregoire Pignede are profecient on the vast multiude of instruments that decorate the album; and the lyrical richness and delivery has also reached a higher elevation.
RIYL: Surprise Chef, Khruangbin, Mac DeMarco, ASHRR, Connan Mockasin.
STAFF COMMENTS
Matt says: Following up their debut with an absolutely breath taking sophomore album. Effortless, languid, but with direct songwriting that stops you dead in your tracks, there's not a duff track amongst the entire set and it's one of those albums that just has you hooked from the start. A surprise hit!
