Opening with the otherworldly, staggered march of 'Golden Apple', you know Unlimited Lives is going to push the boundaries of that instantly recognisable Polypores sound while recalling all of the syncopated wooze and pulsing synaptic impulses of his consistently brilliant, hugely varied canon.

Though there are the more new-age indebted pieces on here recalling his earlier, more ambient works (the superby titled 'Turtles All The Way Down' could easily have fit on Buckley's 2020 opus, Azure for example), and more than a tickle of videogame inspired arps and saturated delay lines (Strings Of Lights And Shapes), it's the fusion of these sounds and the effortless fluidity between them that couldn't be done by anyone else.

There are few artists that could take the machinated whirrs and feedback-laiden fog of 'Guaranteed Astal Projection', and turn it into a divine ascension that's neither obtuse nor obvious, slowly bringing the user into a world of frenetic, but strangely anxiolytic action.

Nobody makes music like Polypores does, and even among his famously diverse output, very few of his works so confidently stride the breadth of the ambient sound spectrum, crafting an unimaginably vast and infinitely discoverable sonic universe.
