About this item

With Australia‘s dance music scene being more prolific than ever, it‘s only fitting that one of the continent‘s hottest tickets appears in the Running Back universe. Sam Alfred‘s debut on it’s subsidiary Misfit Melodies melts the old with the new, swings the hips with the hits and unites the past with the future. The man with the adorable underground white label "Shine II Dawn" under his belt, is not only a DJ to die for, but also a witty, interesting and most of all enchanting studio talent. Aptly titled "Roadblocks", this 5-track-EP once more underlines his appeal: high-speed house and sprinkles of retro rave and trance meet the melodies of tomorrow.

"While My Heart" sounds like the bastard child of Strictly Rhythm & Positiva, "Back To" rolls out with all the same day-glo energy of Krystal Klear and much of the Running Back mob. "Drift" ramps up the accelerator and veers confidently into proggy-almost trance styles, while "Fortune" slides around some Reece basses, thick lead stabs and vintage NY vocal chop. Concluding with the title track "Roadblocks" which really heads down that mid 90s prog house rabbit hole. This is a high peak EP of sugar-rushing NRG that few will be able to resist. Recommended!
