About this item

fabric Originals drop a joint EP by legendary garage producer MJ Cole and rising star K-LONE. This EP marks the inaugural release in the label’s new series, Future Memories, which brings together icons and fresh talent to create groundbreaking music that bridges generations.

With a sound that's equally fresh and retrospective, a timeless interpretation of garage is presented by the two producer's which is full of deepness and sun soaked summer promise.

"Stand Up" opens with skipyy garage beats, volumptous pads, and beautifully orchestrated vox, which flip between ukg cut-up flavour and the more traditional US garage sound on the more chorusy bits. A true hybrid of UK and US garage styles explored with subtle sophistication.

"Lay It All On The Line" rolls with a pure UKG flavour, with delicate piano notes bolstered by rumbling subs and a emotional R&B-esque vocal -  a real modern shine on the production and with tons of charm.

"Bonez" rumbles and shakes with a soundsystem energy that nods to 140 and early jungle stylings. Again, with meticulous attention to bass frequencies and drum programming, with beautifully heartfelt melodies laid over the top.

A real gem of a collaboration, lets hope the entire series is as strong as this opener.

Matt says: Big week for fabric (who also release a tasty new compilation from The Streets) as UKG pioneer and legend MJ Cole joins forces with K-Lone for a super strong three track EP. It's everything we've come to expect from this garage veteran - smooth, silky, sexy and subtle - proving that he's still got that speaker-tweaking nightclub science down to a fine art.
