About this item

Part 3 of Wipe The Needle's GAMM reworkings take over. Up for a re-jig this time round is Street Smartz and Big L.

Made up of DJ Buda, Kareem Denis (Big KO), Syx and Winston Morris, Street Smartz released "Metal Things" in 1996 on Tru Criminal. Here Wipe The Needle deploys a soulful and moody vibe with a sub woofer-teasing bump to compensate the fiery, conscious lyrical deluge delivered with vigor by the crew.

Hip-hop grand royality Big L released "Put It On" in '95 - cementing his skills as one of the smoothest freestylers in the business and making the New Yorker one of the hottest in the business. Wipe The Needle's tweak pairs more of those deeeep subs with smooth synth play and lashings of future soul.

FACTOID!! * Interestingly, both tracks originally featured beats produced by Buckwild - founding member of New York's Diggin' In The Crates posse and celebrated veteran beatsmith.

STAFF COMMENTS

Matt says: Feelin' this series too! Wipe The Needle flips some moments of classic rap with jazzy vibes a plenty. Perfect for those smoky backroom jams.
