About this item
Originally dropping back in 97, this killer slice of Kerri Chandler magic has seen regular spins for almost twenty years for those that know; and for those that don't, this is your lucky day. The finest of the producer's 'Raw Grooves' series and his best work of the late 90s, "Raw Grooves 3" is an absolutely storming example of deeper than deep house genius showcasing both sides of the KC coin. Opening track "Ladbroke Grove" (a classic if ever I've heard one) does the trick every time it's dropped, sending overwhelming vibrations through the dancefloor with its uncontrollable groove of live bass and clattering bongos. The soulful and spiritual vocal sample takes us all the way to church, while echo drenched keyboard stabs reverberate through the congregation. A2 cut "What About Us?" sees Kerri in timeless form, working some muted M1 organ stabs over a simple but effective bassline, moving your body while raw vocal snippets and subtle trumpets get your hands in the air. After hitting us with a couple of fist pumping peak-timers on the A-side, Kerri smooths things out for the flip, getting deeper, dubbier and way more minimal with two subtle sizzlers for the after hours crowd. "Can't You See?" bubbles along with hypnotic majesty, nodding its head to the blue light while an endless sax solo chases the vocal sample through the night air. Closing the set in bass heavy, smooth and underground fashion comes "Dub Music", the kind of groovesome, deep, dubby house Harvey became famous for dropping at Ministry of Sound on a Sunday night. Topping the rolling beat with Berlin-esque synth vamps and fx soaked flutes, Kerri takes us right into the earth's core, where things really start to heat up. Out of print since 2001, this is another slab of Large Music essential wax for every serious collector.
