Belgian techno royalty R&S Records come correct with a timely reissue of Juan Atkins classic "Sonic Sunset EP". Originally released under his Model 500 moniker back in 1994, the EP clocks in at over 50 minutes, spread across five immersive tracks, exploring ambient electronica, techno and even trance (from before it became a dirty word!). Alongside three disorienting variations on the title track, the EP also features the full length versions of Model 500 classics "Neptune" and "I Wanna Be There", two killer club tracks which perfectly showcase Atkins skill at balancing deep hypnotic repetition and thick, thumping sequences. This 2014 reissue comes remastered by Matt Colton, and housed in a picture sleeve inspired by an original painting by Mark Warrington.
