Tav Falco & Panther Burns - Conjurations / Stag-o-lee

The Panther Burns are the last steam engine train left on the tracks that don’t do nothing but run and blow.
'The master of a raw and shambolic fusion of rockabilly, blues, and fractured noise, Tav Falco was, along with The Cramps, one of the earliest purveyors of what would come to be known as psychobilly, and he anticipated the fractured but hard-hitting blueswailing of The Gories and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion by close to a decade'. (All Music Guide).

The new album, "Conjurations: Séance For Deranged Lovers" – just recorded in a secret studio in Saint Germain-des-Prés in Paris – is the definitive masterpiece of the Panther Burns. Refining the themes explored by the group over their career, the new record composed of all original songs, consummates Falco's vision with a particularly poetic, yet turbulent thrust. His exceptional voice evokes the phenomenal fires of the Panther Burns and is supported by the rock solid line-up cast of players devoted to the band over the past decade: Giovana Pirrorno – drums: Grégoire Cat – guitar; Laurent Lanouzière, bass. Guests on the album include Bertrand Burgalat on harpsichord, and Olivier Manoury playing bandoneon.

Azari & III - Indigo / The Worker / Turbo

Azari & III's first outing on Turbo showcases a more stripped-down club sound, the pop vocals subdued to lush moans, the tones darker and deeper than what you've heard from them before, but every bit as catchy and effective on the dancefloor. The Dub is an extended version with 10% more funk, 5% more 'jack', and 1% more jazz.

The B-side reveals a new dimension to AZARI & III; further proof that these guys aren't one-trick nu-jacks but seasoned afficionados who have been trawling Canadian record stores for the past two decades, refining an aesthetic that doesn't imitate but rather re-invents genres in their image. "The Worker" is a legit warehouse techno bomb, a bit too full-on for the album, but perfect for a limited edition indigo-colored vinyl release on a label known for "bangers."

This sampler fro the upcoming Gomma compilation "Italo! House! Now!" features four tracks from Severino (Horse Meat Disco), Rodion, Bottin and Ajello, all compiled by Munk. It's a comp that features all the new young Italian musicians and producers who produce fresh, innovative, futuristic HOUSE music. While most people were excited by the Italo disco revival of the last years there has grown a new generation of kids who know all about the 80s Italo disco movement but have been more inspired by the Italo house music from later in the 80s. They don’t imitate their fathers. No way. As Mathias Modica - the man behind Munk and one of the Gomma bosses along with Jonas Imbery - is Italian himself, it was only a question of time until Gomma would create this compilation. The set features all exclusive unreleased music by these crazy Italians!

Philip Selway - Familial / Bella Union

“Familial” is a collection of sublimely fragile, haunting and heartfelt songs that will surprise many, and not only because drummers traditionally don’t do this kind of thing. “Familial” is so persuasively good, it sounds like Selway (of Radiohead fame) has always been a singer-songwriter.

The seeds of Selway’s solo album were to a degree planted back in 2001 when Neil Finn (of Crowded House and solo fame) organised an impromptu gathering of talent, including Johnny Marr, Eddie Vedder, Lisa Germano, former Soul Coughing bassist Sebastian Steinberg and Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien and Selway, in aid of charity. The resulting album - “7 Worlds Collide” - was credited to Neil Finn and Friends, but when he revived the project in 2008 the singing/songwriting was divided among the ranks, which also now included members of Wilco. As the ensemble beavered away on three floors of Finn’s Auckland studio, Philip came up with “The Ties That Bind Us”, with which he made his singing debut (as a lead vocalist), in Auckland in January, 2009. That song, and an earlier number, “The Witching Hour”, were recorded for 7WC’s “The Sun Came Out” album, released in August of that year.

Back home, Selway asked Courtyard Studios’ resident engineer and producer Ian Davenport to help produce the forthcoming sessions. Then Selway invited Germano, Steinberg, Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche and multi-instrumentalist Patrick Sansone to come and make the record with him. Yet despite the rock pedigree on show, "Familial" is as far from a rock record as you’ll get. But neither are its ballads defined by folk, but something much wider and more contemporary. Curiously, there’s very little defined drums on the record, with more percussive loops/textures. Sometimes the beats and instrumental colours are so subtle, it sounds like the acoustic air in the room is setting the mood. It leaves space for the lyrics, which clearly come from the most intimate of places…

By Some Miracle

Beyond Reason

A Simple Life

The Jackson Five - Dancing Machine - Henrik Schwarz Remixes / Motown Limited Promo

This is something really special. As a kind of tribute to Michael, Motown have let Henrik Schwarz dig through their MJ vaults in search of a tune to remix. It's taken a while to choose from such a big collection of gems, but finally Schwarz has come up with this rework of the Jackson Five's classic “Dancing Machine”. This ultra limited promo twelve features two long and driving Henrik Schwarz remixes in true HS epic style - tight and funky, yet full of warmth. These are two killer, future classic reworks, so be quick in buying a copy, cos Motown have only agreed to this one off vinyl run (we have VERY FEW left as I type this, and can't get more after that - you have been warned!)!

Dancing Machine (Henrik Schwarz Mix)

Dancing Machine (Henrik Schwarz B-side Mix)

Gang Gang Dance - Kamakura / Latitudes

One track, 15 minutes. Recorded in August 2007 at Southern Studios, engineered by Harvey Birrell. Limited pressing of 1000 hand-numbered, rubber stamped CDs and 1000 vinyl.

Gang Gang Dance define the ultimate 'world music' for the now, and possibly for an unknown tomorrow. Utilizing avant garde sensibilities and cut-and-paste assemblies, they approach music as pure sound. Lizzie Bougatsos' vocals are often non-verbal communications – words as sound rather than any immediate apparent linear meaning or message. As interest grows in the indigenous music of many cultures of the Far and Middle East, especially in hybridized fusions of the familiar Western forms with local historical folk forms, so Gang Gang Dance are the logical product of an outward looking NYC in the global age: Middle Eastern percussion and keyboard stabs collide with Far Eastern instrumentation, and elements of Western pop and dance. The inclusion of grime and dubstep elements are of particular interest here since Gang Gang Dance are approaching these genres, familiar to anyone in the UK, from the position of outsiders, and thus treating these genres as indigenous folk music, as exotic as gamelan or throat singing to anyone who has not heard them. The polyrhythms and vocal styling of these British urban genres stands here as another part of Gang Gang Dance's vision of music in the 21st century, combining the musical idioms of the world we inhabit to create music that suggests a world we have yet to discover.

In many ways this recording, tracked prior to the release of the "St. Dymphna" album bridges the gap between the rawer, almost cut-up approach to their earlier albums and their more polished and highly-evolved present sound.
For Fans of: Black Dice, High Places, Boredoms, Telepathe.

"Males" is the sixth full-length release from Seattle, Washington’s The Intelligence. This time, main-brain Lars Finberg ditched his usual method of recording all the instruments himself and had his current touring band play on it - Susannah Welbourne, Beren Ekine Huett (Eat Skull) and Chris Woodhouse (Mayyors, FM Knives, Karate Party), who also served as the record’s producer. Hopefully this will still be the current line up by the time you read this. The results are as powerful as a punch in the face by Mike Tyson but with the velvet touch of a dandy fop.
Marrying buzzsaw punk, DIY post-punk, ramshackle garage (as in played by The Fall - not the Chesterfield Kings), and pop hooks aplenty, "Males" is The Intelligence’s finest statement to date. Current line-up features members of Eat Skull, Mayyors, FM Knives, Karate Party.

Bong Life

Tuned To Puke

Sailor Itch

Originally released as a CD on the UK label Pickled Egg in 2009, "Great Explorers" is the second full-length effort from one man dynamo The Doozer. Siltbreeze was delightfully chuffed to make its acquaintance (by way of Matt Valentine’s suggestion) and agreed to release it unto all the world on the much sought-after vinyl format. Hailing from Cambridge, England, The Doozer bears an almost uncanny vocal resonance to past legend Syd Barrett, as well as a knack for cobbling together occasional found-tape narration with string-strum and hypnotic percussive plonk not unlike The Shadow Ring. The gin doesn’t come much pinker than this. "Great Explorers" is limited to 500 copies and includes a free download.

A joint venture between the Because, Ed Banger and Warp labels, and what a result. A killer new effort from Squarepusher on the jazz-funk-electro tip. On the A-side we have "Cryptic Motion", the perfect soundtrack for a remake of Zabriskie Point in 2012, featuring heavy bass that slaps your flesh and some sunset vocoder. Mr Oizo is on the B-side for teh kind of straight-to-the-head P-funk-style remix only he could turn out. limited quantities, so be quick or be sorry!

Flying Saucer Attack - Flying Saucer Attack / VHF

1993 debut from Dave Pearce, with the assistance of Rachel Brook and Matt Elliot (aka Third Eye Foundation), which in retrospect is still the touchstone for the whole Bristol 'scene' that emerged shortly thereafter. Roughly a blend of half 'songs' and half far-out instrumental doodles, the record builds an atmosphere of dour beauty that sustains itself over the course of the entire program, no small thing. "My Dreaming Hill", "Wish" and "The Season Is Ours" are couched in fuzz and whispery reverb, but are beautiful and accessible tunes, able to stand on their own in any context. "Popol Vuh 1" and "Popol Vuh 2" are straight up tributes to the now much better known German masters, steeping in the hushed atmosphere of the best PV records (if not exactly the sound). The jarring cover of "The Drowners" is a strange interlude in the middle of the otherwise very cosmic second half, but most people seem to like it, so what do I know? 10 tracks, 50 minutes. Still amazing, still better than most released in the 90s..

Cloudland Canyon - Fin Eaves / Holy Mountain

Originally an all-things-not-Panthers outlet for guitarist Kip Ulhorn swapping musical ideas with Simon Wojan (now in King Khan and his Shrines), Cloudland Canyon spent several years interpreting the more structurally-challenged examples of Krautrock, 70s psych of the drone-discovering variety, spots of unnerving (in a good way) improve here and there, and the wonderful 90s bands that started out as head-scratchers and ended up as innovators (first-wave Siltbreeze and Kranky highlights).

"Fin Eaves", the band’s third full-length overall, is the inaugural album from Cloudland Canyon Phase II. Joined once again by significant-other Kelly Ulhorn and a rotating cast of contributors, Kip hascrafted a unique take on really, really goddamned loud and noisy. Most important - hinted at on 2008’s "Lie in Light" - are big, unavoidable pop hooks clawing their way out of a pulsating, throbbing thickness of guitar, bass, who-knows-what-type-of-effects and understated but omnipresent drumming. Imagine a Flying Saucer Attack foundation supporting noise on par with the first two Iran albums, or maybe even Jesu, with flowing vocals providing the major pop-hook components. Cloudland Canyon’s new creative level is not indebted to, but informed by the aforementioned band.

"Fin Eaves" is an antidote for widespread devastation caused by Creative Bankruptcy and The Arrogance of Assumed Originality—two epidemics of devastating mediocrity that will cause our children to break their own ribs with convulsive laughter. This album will be slobbered over by both cobweb-crotched solitude-enthusiasts and beautiful people alike for years and years, necessitating a barrage of reissue box-sets that make that Stone Roses behemoth look like a cassingle. Here’s your chance to get blown away the first time around.

Boston Spaceships - Our Cubehouse Still Rocks / Guided By Voices, Inc

Following three full-length Boston Spaceships records in only two years, "Our Cubehouse Still Rocks" is a breakthrough fourth album from the band featuring Robert Pollard (Guided By Voices), Chris Slusarenko (Guided By Voices) and John Moen (Decemberists). The collaboration began as a long-distance recording project, but brilliantly hits its stride on this album as an unshakable, actualized band. For a group that took their name from the over-the-top UFO illustrations on record covers from '70s arena rockers Boston, there's no denying a classic-rock flag flying high overhead. Just below, however, is the bustling churn of art-damaged new wave, echoes of Devo, mid-period Wire and the sour songcraft of the Rough Trade stable.

From the near-prog sunshine psych of "Track Star" to the barn-burning album closer "In the Bathroom," the sixteen songs fly by in a gust of demented, high-energy pop. Pollard's visual arts talents, especially his fascination with collage, have integrated themselves into the sonic realm with Boston Spaceships. While early GBV had the occasional tape cut-up, on this album compositional collage runs through the songwriting, be it schizophrenic structure or a completely random burst of overdubbed drum solos. Easily the best collection of songs from the Spaceships, the record is brimming with hooks and Pollard's incredible gift for melodies so catchy they shine through even the weirdest musical surroundings. More than anything here, Pollard sounds rejuvenated and excited. At this point - literally thousands of songs into a decades-long career - one might anticipate his unprecedented prolific output would result in a few phoned-in numbers. But once again this is not the case.

"Our Cubehouse Still Rocks" is the sound of a band alive with the energy and excitement of making a brand new, incredible noise. Every second feels electric.

A major global player in all things futuristic disco Prins Thomas Internasjonal imprint is further branching out and diversifying with its brand new spanking series INTERNASJONAL SPESIAL. the a-side sees the proven and tested multi-national team of Reykjavik born HOLMAR FILIPSON of Thugfucker and Crack & Speed fame and NY party veteran ULYSEES ( one half of Neurotic Drum Band ) pushing the agenda of joining the dots globally with the soon-to-be-classic emotive eletronic disco cut “Escape from New York". Starting out as a leisurely paced electro boogie cut with sentimental string chords, additional e-guitar loops and haunting synth noises leak in a dark 80’s pop sensibility a la My Bloody Valentine. Also the b-side by Valentinoland - Holmar Filipsson partnering this time with Arni runar Hlodversson of FM Belfast fame - is nothing short of truely exceptional but more on the dulcet side with a gut-wrenching string-lead melody in classic balearic sunset style.

At this very moment, The Flips are one of the absolute best, true, all-female bands to fully capture the spine-tingling effervescence and true songwriting prowess of the first wave of Girl Group Sounds. Based in Milwaukee and only making rare live appearances periodically, The Flips are an unmatched six-piece super group of songwriters and talented ladies who have straddled the raw essence of the Brill Building's top-notch harmonies, snapping hooks and chest-pounding desperation and they've cranked out three songs presented here that are truly monumental. Featuring members of Plexi 3, Sticks 'N Stones, Sugar Stems, and Jane Doe & the Cophaters, The Flips have the perfect chops and elaborately sophisticated pop execution that's always sorely lacking in pop music these days.

Chicago's explosive and underrated Outer Minds have finally come to the surface after simmering in the underworld in several different incarnations over the past few years, and with unbelievably great results. Sharpening their sound into a legion of 60s pop/psych textures and nuances normally reserved for the baroque set with their impeccable glockenspiel-laden arrangements, Outer Minds weave a rich web of sound around impossibly perfect hooks and deliver an impressive EP worthy of your immediate attention. Lead by Zach Medearis (Black Beauties, Lover!) and A-Ron Orlowski's (Baseball Furies, Lover!, Dirges) fine assemblage of rough-cut harmonies, the band has gone through more name and roster changes than most, but once the current lineup coalesced into the tight-knit unit performing today, everything fell into place to create this sumptuous wall of sound that will blow your little mind to bits.

Amsterdam's Sleazy Beats Recordings serves up their fourth platter of beatdown disco grooves. Eddie C makes a welcome return to the label with "Move Me", a delicious pitched-down chugger.
Eddie C's refreshingly old school approach to music production has led to some mighty fine releases over the past few years on Jisco Music, 7 Inches Of Love, Flashback, Wolf Music, NeedWant, Sleazy Beats, Kolour and many other top imprints earning him a well deserved and growing reputation as a top producer and DJ.

For his debut release on Home Taping he kicks things off in trademark style with the sample driven, moody groover "Tell Me". Next up he flicks the switch and whips up a stompin’ house workout on the get-down-and-sweaty warehouse grooves of "Organized". On the flip, rising Aussie house maestro Tornado Wallace takes "Tell Me" one step deeper into basement territory and works it into an epic nu school refix. And finally, a cheeky vinyl only hidden track "Dub Up The Edit" provides an essential DJ tool. 100% House music from two producers on top of their game.

Following the massive summer release by The Revenge, Disco Deviance returns with number 15 in the series and the debut release from the UK based Nocturnal Music posse. Both edits have been championed by Greg Wilson in his DJ sets over the last year to fantastic response and are seriously fresh, DJ-friendly versions that are ready to ignite the dance floor. First up is "Love Explosion" a cracking version of "Sweet Thing" by Convertion. Packed full of dance floor joy, it drops like a bomb and is a seriously good slice of ecstatic disco reworked for today’s dancefloors.
Diskjokke delivers another trippy mastodon of epic prog disco with his new album, "En Fin Tid". At once hypnotic, stomping and futuristic, the new record maintains this aesthetic without sacrificing melody or subtlety. The album flows like a journey in sound, with each song seamlessly drifting into the next. Whereas Diskjokke’s debut album, "Staying In", was a collection of songs made over many years, "En Fin Tid" was created with the intention of being released as a complete album, lending itself to an evident continuity. The album, recorded and entirely self-produced in Diskjokke’s new studio, draws its inspiration from Holger Czukay’s mid 80s period, Brian Eno, Arthur Russell, European disco, Allan Parsons, Tangerine Dream, Arthur Lyman and Craig Leon.

Reset And Begin

En Fin Tid

1987

Rosenrod

Twenty-seven months, two weeks, five days and eleven hours after it's noble beginnings, Ruth Minnikin and her Bandwagon release their orchestral opus, "Depend on This".

During it's creation, Minnikin tirelessly cultivated her creativity over months of mournful mornings, aloof afternoons and nestled, late-night writing sessions. "Depend On This" takes it's walk on the red carpet of artistic endurance and tested every ounce of Ruth's body and brain.

With the vision of a tiny symphony swaying in her mind's eye, Minnikin mentally battled and yearned for the momentum to finish the piece. Minnikin describes the completed album as 'a conceptually dramatized exaggeration of an avant-garde jalapeno pepper on a life raft'.

"Depend On This'" uber-calculated conclusion spans the Atlantic Ocean and unites seventeen magical musicians, twenty-three integral instruments, a men's vocal choir, three pop producers, one sound artist, and a handful of visual artists.

On her acclaimed 2006 release "Folk Art", Ruth Minnikin stuck to the essentials. Contained in a hand-sewn, ink-stamped canvas case, the album's packaging reflected the music within. Rootsy, bare and without pretension, "Folk Art" offered eleven tracks from an artist with her focus set on the songs and the live-recording process.

Minnikin's varied and accomplished musical history has surely helped hone this kind of concentration. Her first band, Booming Airplanes, was signed to EMI during the Halifax pop explosion of the 90s. Her chamber-pop side project, The Heavy Blinkers developed a cult following all over the world, and at the turn of the millennium, Ruth made two albums and toured the UK and the US with alt-country quintet, The Guthries.

This Will Destroy You - Moving On The Edges Of Things / Magic Bullet

This Will Destroy You have chosen August 2010 to make a clean, violent break from the public perception that has unintentionally emerged around this instrumental Texan band over the past 4 years. Motivated entirely by hatred, disgust, and pure disdain for those that have claimed the band's previous work to embarrassingly trendy musical genres and those who try to work it into religious ideologies, this 12" is a powerful statement and preview of what is to come from the band in the years ahead.

"Moving On The Edges Of Things" features 2 brand new, exclusive This Will Destroy You tracks that capture the band diving full-on into the abyss, shunning every trace of the 'post-rock' tag and making a very clear musical statement that should effectively shun all Christians and other religious zealots from ever claiming the band as 'theirs' again. This record literally sounds like your turntable eating itself while opening up a portal to hell, where the members of the band are all waiting to pull you down, stuff your mouth full of pills, and introduce you to the man downstairs.

Slowdive - Souvlaki / Cherry Red Records

1993 and Slowdive, kings and queens of the shoegazers, release their masterpiece. Nobody was listening. They'd had all the hype and (inevitable) backlash around their debut, but now when they totally and convincingly deliver the goods, in a world consumed by Suede (at home) and Nirvana (abroad), apart from a few diehards, it was shrugs all round. How wrong they were! This is a stunningly beautiful album with a direct pop nous that's more Mary Chain than Cocteaus. It's full of yearning and dreams but also in "Souvlaki Space Station" a proper ambient/dub arse-quaker.

Elsewhere, Brian Eno collaborates, and this special edition also includes the mellow "5 EP" from the same year. Nancy & Lee's "Some Velvet Morning" even drifts in from somewhere. Not one bad song: it's all brilliant. It's the ultimate in dreampop!

Alison

Souvlaki Space Station

Slowdive - Pygmalion / Cherry Red Records

You'll know them as 'shoegazers' but as the title suggests, their third and final LP was about change. It's still super-atmospheric, echoey and and Cocteau's-ish, but this time things have really drifted and unravelled. Influenced by techno and built on loops it is a stark, haunted record, ambient and experimental. They ditched songs in favour of sounds, and this is a desolate yet strikingly beautiful record. If you like Sigur Ros then you'll love this.

This two CD edition features 12 tracks of "Pygmalion" demos on the second disc.

Rutti

Miranda

Slowdive - Just For A Day / Cherry Red Records

Slowdive were, in one way, a reaction to the fist-aloft bravado of the arse-end of baggy. Yet their gorgeous swathes of disorientating, hypnotic sound actually perfectly fitted in with early morning comedowns; we're talking about 1991 here! They aimed for a womb-like cosy dreaminess and with their three pre-album EPs looked like they were going to take over. "Slowdive", "Morningrise" and "Just For A Day" are all included here. Their main influence was The Cocteau Twins, but along with My Bloody Valentine, early Boo Radleys and others, the press christened them 'shoe-gazers'. A lot was written and there were just as many detractors as fans, but this fan, along with many others, was a little dissapointed by this, their debut LP. Yes it flows, drifts then envelops, but the songs weren't quite as good as expected. But, y'know: tell that to Babyshambles! With the inclusion of those lovely three EPs and a three-song Peel Session, this is now a very lush (though occasionally meandering) and beautiful disc. Recommended.

Spanish Air

Celias Dream

This will be Warpaints very first UK single, both tracks are taken from the double CD set "We Were So Turned On: A Tribute To David Bowie" which is coming out in September on Manimal.

Warpaint cover "Ashes to Ashes" and Sister Crayon does a fine take on "The Bewlay Brothers".

The album has already been all over Pitchfork and NME.com so expect and huge amount of press on its release. There will be another limited 7” taken from the album later on this year. All profits from the album will be donated to Warchild. War Child is a charity that simply helps children affected by war across the globe no matter what border they inhabit. A charity that Bowie makes no secret about supporting. Other artists on the album include Devendra Banhart (Megapuss), Vivian Girls and Carla Bruni, Duran Duran, ex-Slits Viv Albertine and legendary avant-garde bassist/musician Mick Karn.

Various Artists - 50 Weapons Of Choice / Fifty Weapons

50 Weapons started as a secretive project from two German producers who love their Moms and later celebrated a very Happy Birthday. They are of course now revealed as Modeselektor. As the label name suggests, it is the idea to release fifty tracks in total and end the label when this mission is accomplished. All releases were limited edition vinyl only... until now. "50 Weapons of Choice # 2-9" brings eight of the first tracks to the digital world and reveals the true identities of all involved. Containing all the vinyl versions released so far including the Roska and Bok Bok remixes of "Art & Cash" also released this week. Other personal highlights include the hyper-hip-hop of "Untitled (Siriusmo Remix)" and the crazy electro-jacking of "Untitled (Housemeister Remix)"; but it's all of prime quality. An all-star cast of electro wizards, bass manipulators and future skankers, all buzzing off the fact their honoured to be remixing one of the most revered and respected acts in modern day electonic music. Eight, now deleted tracks on one well priced CD, go figure!

The previously unreleased Roska remix can be seen as an exclusive preview for the next vinyl release featuring Roska and Bok Bok planned for a release later this month. This first CD release from 50 Weapons is limited to 750 numbered copies for the world. These won't last long!

Modeselektor - Untited (Siriusmo Remix)

Moderat - A New Error (Headhunter Remix)

Moderat - Rusty Nails (T++ Remix)

Modeselektor - Untitled (Housemeister Remix)

Kirk Degiorgio - Exodus Earth / ART

Already tipped to be one of the biggest club tracks of 2010, from Berlin to Ibiza to Detroit, "Exodus Earth" continues ART's new Dance Division Series in style. Here Degiorgio goes at the dancefloor full throttle, with heavy walls of synth and clattering drums. 'Stadium techno' if you will; an assault of sweeping sawtooth waves, sharp arpeggios and crunchy, powerful drums. One of those tunes that demands a large, up-for-it audience, don't be trying to rock this in some cool, sultry backroom. "New Genesis" doesn't let up either - blasting us with layers of 303 abuse, spitting synthlines and bulldozer stabs. With a slightly darker demeanor than "Exodus Earth" I'd be expecting this a little later on in the session, with the smoke machine setting turned up to 11 and prefarably sweat dripping from the ceiling. Music to fully loose yourself in, when you can barely even see straight; was that a sheep on the dancefloor...? Be careful.

Exodus Earth

New Genesis

Various Artists - DG Edits / Detroit Beatdown Edits

It must surely be over a year now since the first installment of Detroit Beatdown Edits hit our shelves. The first release on the label shot out super quick and we haven't heard anything from them since.... until now! Here we get three more dancefloor centred edits; not to beardy, not to obvious either, perfect! Parliament's "Chocolate City Pt.1" is first to get the chop, looping up the groovy bits and sticking a club friendly kick drum over the top. Just enough extra relish without ruining the burger. "If You Want Me" by Barbara Roy & Ecstacy Passion And Pain is next and is treated to a hypnotic rework, extending the track and building up the dynamics into a massive cresendo. The Loft classic (and also, one of the most re-edited disco cuts in my opinion, come on you lazy editors!) "Can You Feel It" concludes the twelve. I'm not sure there's much I can tell you about this infectious cut now, 'cept that Mr. DG pulls out a top notch cut'n'splice on the original, sucking us into its seductive groove; come on everybody: 'feel it..... feel it.... feel it'
Modeselektor - Art & Cash - Inc. Bok Bok / Roska Remixes / Fifty Weapons

If you're a Modeselektor fan you may as well stop reading now, you already know the sketch. For those who don't, a quick run-down. Fifty Weapons will release fifty tracks by Modeselektor / Moderat designed for heavy club use, featuring remixes by the future music elite and some of Modeselektor's favourite producers. The forth release sees Bok Bok and Roska rework "Art & Cash". Bok Bok takes a grimy, sound effects heavy route through the original's mangled to fuck bassline and warped synths. Listeners of a nervous disposition beware! There really is some intense madness at work here, with plenty of wide, multi-layered claps, snares and even the sound of a cash till register all running rampant over a heavy, warbling sub bassline. Roska brings the pots and pans on his version, the trademark kicks and snares that define this producer in full effect. It's a much more restrained number, and with smooth transitions the track bubbles away through a number of different sections. With a tribal / tropical influence prevailant, this'll make ears prick up in the dance and get the kids pulling funny shapes. Ideal.
Limited edition white labels with stamp.

Art & Cash (Bok Bok Remix)

Art & Cash (Roska Remix)

Personal Records strike again by DJ Buzz, well known as one third of Austrian hip hop / funk combo the Waxolutionists and mastermind of the Supercity Soundsystem. "From Wallstreet to Dockside" is the final 7" of three limited 45s from DJ Buzz and comes with a sunny A-side and a darker flip. "Wallstreet" rolls down the lane with an upbeat funky feel featuring some nice horns on top. "The Mill" and "Dockside" are more dark and heavy beat-science cuts. "Knocking Off" brings the EP to a close.

Wallstreet

The Mill

Dockside

Knocking Off
