As with the top 100 albums of the year, this year's compilations chart was was another close run thing, with something for everyone in the top 30.

Taking the prized number one slot is the "Dark Was The Night" compilation with a tracklisting that reads like a who's who of indie rock, and what's more it's all for a good cause with sales benefitting the Red Hot AIDS relief organization.
