LIVED IN SKIN / MILLION MILES
Laura says: Young British Artists seem to encapsulate all the best elements of Manchester music over the last 30 odd years. "Lived In Skin" is a prime example, dark pop with a relentless rhythm, wiry guitars and filtered vocals that all pull in different directions creating a tension and intensity that brings to mind a whole host of bands: The Fall, Joy Division, Chameleons, Magazine, Dub Sex..... "Million Miles" is a less intense affair. It's almost jangly pop at the start, but manages to veer away from tweeness and maintain the same brooding intensity as the A-side. Excellent stuff!
