Indie-dance: it's still tarnished with the dirty stain of Jesus Jones for those old enough to remember, but in the hands of people with a tad more ideas and leftfield taste, we get new DFA signing Yacht. "See Mystery Lights" is their second album, which sees them slimmed down to a two piece featuring Jona Bechtolt and Claire Evans. The album sees the duo expand their musical palette to include the quirky B-52's-esque pop of "The Afterlife", the LCD Soundsystem-inspired krautrock of "Summer Song" to the infectious single "Psychic City" or twisted Autotune weirdness of "I'm In Love With A Ripper". All these elements, stitched together by Yacht and combined with the kind of melancholy disco utilised so often by DFA associates, have a basic cumulative effect: they make you want to dance. Indie or otherwise.
