Jaw-droppingly good mix CD from our favourite cult NY label Golf Channel! Always hitting us with quality rather than quantity, GC have drip-fed a series of essential (and I mean ESSENTIAL) twelves, and now come up with a long-awaited mix CD. As you know, comps and mix CDs are ten-a-penny these days, with every johnny come lately setting up their laptop and feeding in a pile of we've-already-heard-this-a-million-times over-played tunes. Do you you think Golf Channel would do that to you? No, of course not; trust us folks, this sounds like an excerpt from the best club night you've never been to (yet!), making you want to check in at the airport right now and head for the Big Apple clutching a few bucks and a mirrorball. The CD features just under an hour of mind-melting discoid bliss, funk, outsider soul and raw house genius plus all manner of swerve-balls thrown in, not for the sake of eclecticism or irony, but purely because they match the hedonistic energy of the other tracks. An absolute joy - essential with lots of capitol Es (and lots of Es as well)!
