The mix albums that celebrate the Weekender have attracted the same calibre of producers and remixers as the event itself - Volumes 1 to 4 have featured Joey Negro, Gilles Peterson, Miguel Migs, Blaze, Joe Claussell, Jazzy B, Quentin Harris, Dimitri From Paris, Tony Humphries and DJ Spen. Volume 5 is on a new record label - Endulge - but keeps the quality control flag flying high both with the distinctive branded packaging and the DJ's supplying the mixes: MAW's Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez and Chicago house legend Terry Hunter. The Dopester kicks things off in distinctly non-house style with hip hop and soul cuts from J Dill and Steve Spacek before heading out into jazz-funk territory with Brass Construction and broken beats from Neon Phusion, BITA and Landslide. He then builds up with house tunes by Soul Creation, Dennis Ferrer, DJ Romain, Mr V and Loni Clark. On disco two Hunter comes up with a blistering mix that veers from the unreleased and currently in-demand to revisiting some of house music's earliest and most iconic soundblasts.
