ABOUT THIS ITEM
Rufdug used to live in Australia and while there hooked up with some like-minded people, putting on secret parties and such like. So for the second Ruf Kutz EP, we get RK#2; "The Sydney Disco Mafia EP", a three tracker of highly charged modern day electronic, soulful club cuts. All tracks are produced by the Sydney crew RufDug was hanging out with, and all are original cuts, not edits.
Kicking off with "Seeing Crystals" by M. Muitante. Sorry if I offend anyone here but this is right up there, if not surpassing Mr. Kyle Hall's recent efforts that everyone seems to be making so much fuss about at the moment. Off kilter beats but with a deep house rhetoric, screaming to be played towards the end of the evening when emotions run strong. Just one of those endless sunset grooves that could go on for ever. Flip over and we have Mysterio and our man Ruf on "In A Fantasy". Pure peak time club banger! This reminds me of what the Unabombers and Ashley Beedle used to spin at basements throughout the UK from 95 - 2008. Massive breakdown, huge bassline and pumping, uptempo beats blessed with a soulful, catchy female vocal hook make it a surefire dancefloor bomb. We close with the slightly slower, more cosmic / leftfield sounding "Power Plant" by Black Horse. Dreamy 303s drift in the background while a chugging, slo-mo beat and dizzy arpeggios are at the foreground. Ideal head-fucking tackle for your discoid discotheque. An unmissable EP and super limited folks, the first RK#1 has now vanished into the ether. Move quick!
