A new compilation of obscure vintage gems from the 'British Acid Folk Underground 1968-1974'. Bringing together Pentangle, Sandy Denny, Bert Jansch and Vashti Bunyan with a bunch of people I've never heard of, the collection traces the roots of a sound that sporadically infiltrated popular music over the successive three decades. If you've ever wondered what on earth inspired Gorkys'and Super Furrys' acid fried pastoralism, Twisted Nerves' lo-fi acoustica, Damon & Naomi's echoplex existentialism and the current generation of nu-folkies (Devandra Banhart, Lone Pigeon, Adam Green, Nina Nastasia etc.), or simply have heard Nick Drake and Fairport Convention and want more weirdness, you're in for a treat. Chorused flutes, 12-string guitars, baroque stylings, defiant lo-fi production and an assortment of male and female harmonising abound here.
