Soul, boogie and R&B from the US became a worldwide dance and clubbing movement during the 70s when these styles came together to form disco. By the early 80s disco had gone mainstream, but forward-looking producers headed back underground, serving up a slower, more soulful and funky sound - boogie and club soul. Newly affordable electronic instruments like synthesizers and drum machines were added to the horn riffs and piano licks, bringing the funk back on the dancefloor while still leaving its soul untouched. Although a global success story, it played an interesting role especially in the German experience, as American GI's imported the latest hot US 12" singles for their airbase discos.

Berlin local DJ heroes Kalle Kuts and Daniel W. Best aka GI Disco bring us the best of that 80s soul, boogie, R&B and disco sound here, with killer cuts from Timex Social Club, Cashmere, Freeez, BB & Q Band, Valentine Brothers (eat your heart out Mick), Barbara Mason, Surface, and Wish Feat. Fonda Rae amongst others.
