ABOUT THIS ITEM
The wrong-footingly named "Electrofunk Classics" kicks off with three stone cold classic boogie / proto house tunes. At a pinch I'd add 'electro' to boogie, but not funk, despite the label notes saying that these cuts helped define the electro-funk sound. Sinnamon's "Thanks To You (Instrumental Pts 1 & 2)" gets us underway, a "Beat The Street" style dub-disco / proto house cut that would have been slaying them at Paradise Garage back in the day. Oh, and it's not all instrumental either, with the vocal dropping about two thirds of the way through (just watch the crowd go mental when it does!). Even if you're not sure you know Northend's 1981 boogie bomb "Tee's Happy", you're sure to recognise that opening vibes line, and KILLER bassline riff - acid house before acid house was invented! Lastly we get Gunchback Boogie Band's "Funn", a slapped bass Prelude electro-boogie winner from 1982. This trio of dancefloor killers have been lovingly remastered and are a must for any serious disco collection!
