ABOUT THIS ITEM
A very warm welcome back to the marvellous Creative Use imprint. After a short hiatus, Kelvin Andrews' world famous stable for his own and like-minded producers' (Mark E, Mark Seven etc) secret DJ weapons is back to the fray with a truly timeless compilation of Balearic belters. Lovingly compiled by Kelvin himself and the infamous bearded librarian Balearic Mike (Cosmic Alphonsus, Fascinating Rhythms etc), there's a CD on the way, but in the meantime the guys wanted to release a 12" sampler featuring two of the more floor-friendly numbers, knocked into seriously good shape by Danny Mekanik (One half of Soul Mekanik with older brother Kelvin!). Here we get the seaside Balearic mumblings of Don McKewen (oops, Balearic policeman Moonboots has just pointed out that it's Rod, not Don, and McKuen, not McKewen) on "Beachtowel", followed by the wicked "Are You Enabled" (Nacht Und Nebel's 1983 electronic post-disco killer "Beats Of Love"). OK, so you've already got your wallet out at this stage, but now I'm going to seal the deal by telling you that "Osmondosis" is on the flipside. This is Kelvin and Danny's edit of The Osmonds "I, I, I", created as a backing track for Kylie's last album (which she knocked back! Bad Kylie!). It's a fantastic driving electrodisco track with big choppy strings. Bad bad Kylie! Already a hot topic on the blogs and likely to be the CD soundtrack of the summer, this is a superbly curated collection, and a killer sampler to introduce it.
