ABOUT THIS ITEM
In 1970, American music living legend Lee Hazelwood decided to up sticks and move to Sweden. There, he recorded his brilliant "Cowboy in Sweden", a country masterpiece with baroque overtones which remains to this day not only one of his very best albums, but also one of the classics of what continues to be known as Americana. Thirty-five years later, strangely, some of the best albums of the genre are now coming out of Sweden or Norway. Launched towards the end of the 90s by people like Nicolai Dunger, Christian Kjellvander and his Loosegoats or Kings Of Convenience, the 'Scandinavian Folk' trend is currently going from strength to strength, thanks to fine albums by José Gonzalez, Mattias Hellberg or Thomas Dybdahl. The richness and diversity of this scene is at last documented by this compilation which gathers established artists (José Gonzalez, Nicolai Dunger) as well as unsigned acts (including Junip, José Gonzalez 'band' project). Comes with a 20 colour-page booklet with extensive liner notes.
