ABOUT THIS ITEM
LTM present a new volume in the acclaimed compilation series Auteur Labels, here profiling cult Manchester imprint Object Music. Active between 1978 and 1981, pioneering Manchester post-punk label Object Music was founded by songwriter and deejay Steve Solamar to release records by his own group, Spherical Objects. Their first album, "Past And Parcel", arrived in July 1978. Object soon began releasing records by other artists, many of them active in the Manchester Musicians' Collective. After singles by Spherical Objects, The Passage, Steve Miro, Grow Up, Contact and others, in 1979 the label took the unusual step of concentrating on albums, releasing 7 in 12 months. However Object Music ceased operations in 1981 after Steve Solamar corrected a lifelong contradiction and became a woman. "Auteur Labels: Object Music" compiles tracks from singles released between September 1978 and July 1980, as well as select album tracks.
