Philippa says: Another fantastic four tracker from Andrew Weatherall's right hand man. Very post-punk electro-dance in style.

ABOUT THIS ITEM

The second release on Emotional Response comes from London-based producer Timothy J Fairplay.

After producing a number of stella releases in the last 12 months - notably his outing on Bird Scarer and 'Cleopatra Loves The Acid' on World Unknown - as well as working regularly with the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Death In Vegas, Battant and an upcoming project with World Unknown's Andy Blake, Timothy seemed like the perfect producer to join the label.

Pushing the deep dubbed-out electronic sound found at clubs like A Love From Outer Space and World Unknown, the EP also nods at the new wave sounds of the past and some digi-dub meets proto-dubstep future. EP opener 'Aim For The Yellow Sector' and flipside cut 'Saco Bay' pay homage to the doominess of Joy Division, marrying guitars and bass to a simple 4/4 beat. Title track 'Somebody, Somewhere' goes post-dubstep in the beat department while keeping those post-punk vibes alive. 1979 meets 2012... Lastly '‘I Do Not Believe…’' provides the digi-dub element, sounding like Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark having a soundsystem moment.
