Although previously released on a little-known French-only EP back in 1997, "Children Of The Drum" has never been widely available (I never even knew it existed before!). This COD1 Sound Signature 12" was supposed to be released at the time of the last repress in 2006, but now it's finally out for real. The track itself is an intoxicating deep thing - part-Mood II Swing, part Motor City - with a female spoken word from Yamini Nayar and Afrocentric percussion by Jerry The Cat adding to the mystique and has been massively extended and reworked by Theo himself especially for this release. The wholly unreleased "I Am These Roots" may well have originated from the same sessions, as it too features a circular female vocal and even more drum experimentation from the Cat. We've just found a handful of these. Don't sleep!!
