ABOUT THIS ITEM
The Volcano Brothers are a mysterious group who have put together these two African edits that have been featured on the Beats In Space radio show and in the record box of Tim Sweeney. Perfect for rlease on Beats In Space edits label offshoot BIS Records Inc. then!
'Neocolonialism Is Strong Tea' combines the always uplifting highlife guitar sound and southern African choral harmonic vocals with a simple 4/4 house click track rhythm and some dubbed-out efx. Another side of the Afro-house sound, and one that's perfect for the summer months (tall drink... beach bar... sunshine...). 'Obey A Man' gives us an edit of 'Exuma, The Obeah Man' by Bahamian musician Exuma. This is a raw piece of percussive junkanoo for some dancefloor shuffling and singing along. Again The Volcano Brothers add some nice dub fx and electronics, while keeping the track's original integrity intact.
