Sure to be at, or near the top of many cosmic / Balearic collectors wants lists, this long version of The Steve Miller Band's "Macho City" (previously on a promo-only 12", yours for around the £15 - £20 mark on Discogs) is an absolute bomb! Not only is the first half a perfect piece of post-punk grooviness, pulling in influences ranging from rap to jazz-funk to Talking Heads style alt-disco, but then the track just goes off on this monster extended break into outer space. Bassline, kick drum, synth noise, phased guitar licks... Big with Harvey... Actually, big with anyone with an ounce of taste! For this US reissue, we also get that other Balearic favourite, "Fly Like An Eagle" (the perfect fusion of disco, rock and funk), complete with "Space Intro", which has been lifted from the band's 1976 "Fly Like An Eagle" album.
