ABOUT THIS ITEM
This is the first release on new disco edits label Hands Of Time, and comes from Portuguese producer Social Disco Club (real name Humberto Matias), who you'll know from his recent Greg Wilson remixed 12" on Bearfunk or his Mindless Boogie outing. "Man Of Magic" gives the Sarr Band's 1978 obscurity "Magic Mandrake" a shake-up. This is a horn-blasted, vocal belter with a funky driving rhythm track and cascading strings. The original of flipside track "Sandwich Love" is actually the original flipside of "Magic Mandrake" - "Double Action" (thanks to Danny Donachie for the tip-off). Slinky disco-funk with breathy female vocals, clavinet keys and enchanting flute solos. DJ support comes from Eric Duncan, Phoreski, Leo Zero, Lovefingers, James Murphy, Rune Lindbaek et al.
