ABOUT THIS ITEM
With guest spots on tracks by the Beastie Boys and Amadou & Mariam amongst others Brooklyn native and Queen Of Pop (NME) Santigold is back with the release of her eagerly anticipated follow up to her self-titled debut. Four years may have passed since "Santogold" (What DID happen to her 'O'?), but ‘Master of My Make Believe’ features the same heady cross-genre pop stew that made its predecessor so dynamic.
Having eschewed the current crop of pop factory producers to work with, Santi decamped to Jamaica instead, and "Master Of My Make Believe" is peppered with dancehall flavas, along with electro beats, rock guitars, tribal drums (we're loving the Adam and the Ants style Burundi drums on "The Riot's Gone") and her distinctive vocal yelps and swoops. The album also includes the (soon-come) single "Disparate Youth". Produced by Santigold and Ricky Blaze, the track is a contemporary rebel song with a new spin on punk and reggae that underscores its message of pushing through all roadblocks and claim 'a life worth fighting for'.
Already a 'sticker' on our shop CD player, we give Santigold a big welcome back!
