ABOUT THIS ITEM
Originally on Cosmo Vitelli’s parisian label I’m A Cliche, Runaway’s “Dead Dog Farm” finds additional life with On The Prowl, who bring us four new remixes.
The original version is a beautiful blend of live instruments recorded by NYC’s Brennan Green, a formula that also works a treat on the Sal P rework. The Liquid Liquid man invites current production pal Sean Bee to help guide his vision, and the pair create a rhythmic disco-not-disco groove, with Sal actually playing percussion with spoons. Organic tribal dance music done right. Coyote spreads things out for maximum room. Forward moving dubbed-out elements create a long psychadelic journey into the unknown. Coyote takes Jacques’ live viola into dark waters and adds light percussion for the ride.
On the flip Andy Ash gives "Dead Dog Farm" a percussive tribal-Balearic house approach with cut up drum loops and synthy tech house style swells. It becomes the most peak time version of the bunch. Lastly Simoncino, a man known for his love of proto-house and analogue gear-collecting, treats "DDF" as if it were one of his recent "Party Breaks" edits; Electro-boogie synths create an 80s sound to his interpretation.
