ABOUT THIS ITEM
Following on from the Eighties Ladies reissue, Soul Jazz's Universal Sound offshoot deliver another sought -after Roy Ayers rarity. This time we get "Lots Of Love" from 1983, recorded for his own Uno Melodic label after the vibesman had left Polydor and was yet to be picked up by CBS. After their work together on "Music Of Many Colors", the influence of Fela Kuti's Afro-beat is all over opening track "Black Family", while the rest of the set mixes up jazz-funk, soul, disco and takes in hip hop influences too. The album also includes the brilliant "Chicago", a proto-house / disco cut re-edited by Henrik Schwarz on his track of the same name.
