ABOUT THIS ITEM
In the age of re-edits and remixes, we doff our hats to Russian producer Ritmolider and his brand new EP on equally new label Mellophonia. The 12" opens with a great Beat Broker remix of title track "Kaleidoscope". 'A beautiful symbiosis of instrumental improvisations and electronic melodiousness' say the sales notes. I'd go for 'deep electro-acoustic disco' myself - this is ace! Next we have the jerkier post-punk cuteness of "Futuristic Romance". Flip for Ritmolider's own disco-not-disco version of "Kaleidoscope" - all live drums and percussion, topped with trippy space-age synths. Lastly "Tonight At the Discotheque" heads further into the cheesy / easy analogue disco era, letting a variety of different keyboard sounds ride a live-played bassline and upbeat 4/4 rhythm combination.
