ABOUT THIS ITEM

After a couple of great remix EPs of their tracks, Pollyn turn the table and bring us an EP featuring their own reworks, remakes and interpretations of other artist's work.

First up is their edit of Liquid Liquid's "Optimo". Surely on of the LA outfit's biggest influences, Liquid Liquid were the original NY punk-funk pioneers. Next we have their sample-heavy remake of Gorillaz' "DARE" which has Pollyn's singer Genevieve Artadi re-singing Damon Albarn's vocal section, while Shaun Ryder does his rap bit in the background. Next Pollyn cover Eurythmics'  "Take Me To Your Heart" in a disco-not-disco style. Last but not least we get their edit of Paul Simon's "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover".

Hailing from LA, Pollyn are vocalist Genevieve Artadi, guitarist Anthony Cava, and beat maker / percussionist Adam Jay Weissman. Anthony and Adam met in college while studying creative writing and soon invited Anthony's younger cousin to help them out on vocal duties while they experimented with a sample-based sound. In 2008, with the release of their debut full length, their music had evolved into a fully fleshed out project, with live percussion, synths and vintage drum machines all incorporated into their signature sound. As cool as it is cozy the delicately arranged, new 9 track record is a step away from the more Portishead-esque efforts of the past: aligning itself with a moodier, funkier, Afro-beat ancestry drawn from elements of Creatures and Talking Heads.
