ABOUT THIS ITEM
Second part of four in the "Imbroglios" series sees modern sound alchemist Pepe Bradock emerges from his studio with another otherworldly, mind-bending mixture of tricky, swinging beats, collages of rich, imaginative sound snippets and a plethora of exotic, hard-to-place bleeps, clangs and sounds. The Frenchman has pushed the envelope yet again, churning out something entirely original and ahead of the pack but somehow, miraculously, maintaining that instantly recognizable Pepe charm. "Hello" typifies his groove in an instant, yet some of those almost-steel-drum chimes and reversed micro-organ chirps we haven't come across before. And his kick drums are carrying much more weight. "Ma Souris Est Folle" is train-wreck destruction for the floor. Almost carnival and cartoon like in its chaos; again, this could have only been conjured up by a trickster such as Pepe. Layers of bubbling trumpets and rough-as-a-bear's-arse percussion meet harsh stabs and little guitar licks in a real mash-up of styles that sure to get the floor unified in joyful disorientation. "@ The Stanley" explores his love of jazz-tinged experimentation, with Rhodes, double bass and jazz drums meeting concentric sine waves, fluttering synth palpitations and swirling atmospherics. Gorgeous stuff to dive head first into, and certain to sweep through any venue with its luscious, seductive mood. Finally "Decision Fatigue" is the kind of sound design explosion that we crave for at the end of a Kyle Hall or Zooloft record. Analogue synth abuse of the highest order as Mr. Bradock gets his mitts heavily around the LFOs to create a swirling, psychedelic mess of various synth tones and harmonics. A sci-fi interlude of the highest order and one of those perfect bridging effects tracks to use out in the field to completely destroy the dancefloor. Highly recommended French tackle as usual (as if he needs any more props).
