ABOUT THIS ITEM

It's what we've all been waiting for. Moodymann's fourth album on Peacefrog collects some of his best and most sought after productions. The more soulful Detroit garage emphasis of his Mahogani label exerts its influence through its finest songs on the Amp Fiddler / Amp Dog Knight classic "I'm Doing Fine" and Pitch Black City's "Runaway". Two of the rarest original KDJ tracks, "Shades Of Jae" and "Black Mahogany" (here retitled and reworked as "Black Mahogani") appear at last. The former being one of the preeminent dancefloor killers of the last five years, the latter an epic patchwork of blaxploitation dialogue, rough techno breaks and soul-jazz loops. These essentials are joined by a salvo of brand new productions that flit from loungey jazz ("I Need You So Much"), to dense afro-futurism ("Holiday") to quirky electronic experimentation ("Riley's Song"). Be nice to your ears, play them this.
