The newly formed Steak House Records bring some much-needed carnival fire for these winter months, their sights firmly on the Trinidad carnival season. Label owners Atki2 and Hanuman take the helm on this release, enlisting the vocal talents of MC Zulu on the EP’s standout lead track "Hyped Up". This tune is pure soca fire! "Bombeiros!" is the instrumental riddim for "Hyped Up" and a huge tune in its own right. Chromatic bass and galloping soca beats raise the temperature on this tropical banger. One for the airhorn crew! Flip it for "Tigris Riddim" - as featured on Toddla T's "Fabriclive47" mix CD. Fragments of Iraqi folk music collide with bubbling bass and tuff bashment beats. Global bass music at its finest. Lastly we get "Haarlem Drift", a psychedelic UK funky anthem. Dreamy synths and punishing sub bass weave themselves around a broken tribal rhythm.
