Following her late 60s work with Rotary Connection Minnie Riperton had gone into semi-retirement to focus on bringing up her two children in Florida. Luckily Epic records got to hear her demo for "Seeing You This Way" and she was instantly signed to the label. Moving to LA she began recording the "Perfect Angel" album, which was released in 1973. Including the rock-soul anthem "Reasons", the second single "Take A Little Trip", and the third single "Seeing You This Way", sales of the album started out slow. However, with the release of fourth single "Lovin' You", which topped the charts un the US and got to number two in the UK, sales finally took off and Minnie was finally revered as the 'lady with the high voice'.
