ABOUT THIS ITEM
Next up from Shifting Peaks is a tough, brooding 2-stepper from emerging Midlands based producer Lakosa, who tops off deep, techy riffs, punchy rhythms and fierce bottom end dynamics with a stream of (black) consciousness spoken vocal to create something that’s equally at home on the dancefloor, on the headphones, or cruising the city streets in a blacked-out Civic. Remixes come from fast rising newcomer, Mau’lin, who goes tribal and more direct, pitching down the vocal a touch to reflect the different dynamic. An attack of drums and percussion abuses the listener before a wooden, speaker filling bassline comes in and smashes the track to pieces. West Norwood Cassette Library virtually dispenses with the vocal altogether, except for a cheekily spliced ‘WNCL’ shout out, and instead lets his crisp, tough drums and tech riffs do the talking, turning the track into a straight up 4/4 future house workout which should appeal to the whole Boddika / Sunklo / Swamp81 sound.
