ABOUT THIS ITEM

Tucked away on side C of new LCD Soundsystem album "This Is Happening" there's a track called "You Wanted A Hit" about the pressure of writing catchy songs with crossover appeal. I think James Murphy is just having us on though, because he then comes up with up with a song as radio friendly as "Drunk Girls"! It's an instant hit that's "North American Scum", "Boys Keep Swinging" and "Do You Want To" all rolled into one big disco-punk anthem. You can already see the thousands at Glastonbury all singing along to the chorus 'But, oh oh oh, I believe in waking up together!'

Flipping the script for the underground, LCD then bring in Piccadilly's favourite epic psyche overlords Wooden Shjips to make their own version (this isn't just a remix folks, but a proper remake). Swirling clouds of fuzzed to the max guitar riffs ride over a chugging, mechanically tight rhythm section topped off with singer Ripley Johnson's Lou Reed-esque vocals. The Shjips take the original on and blast into another cosmos. Imagine Suicide mixed with prime (second album) Velvet Underground - yep, it's a killer! The perfect Piccadilly 45!
