ABOUT THIS ITEM
Tusk Wax come up with the good again, this time delivering a more electro-boogie / slo-mo synthwave house EP from Jocktalk, aka Bristol's Max Gershfield.
The EP opens with a mid 80s Jam & Lewis style electro-funk smasher "Loving Me", which breaks down halfway through and incorporates a bit of film dialogue as well. "I Still Love You" keeps the 80s vibe running, with a solid 4/4 beat, little drum fills and a big sing-along chorus. "Be The Champ" has a later 80s proto-house feel to it, with cheesy synth horns, slurred vocals burried right back in the mix and a nailed-on rhythm. Over on side two "Prom King" should sate the aural appetites of the slo-mo synth-house brigade, delivering plodding / chugging four-to-the-floor rhythms, a big synth hook and more of that submerged, refracted sound. "No Cure" is in the same vein, with lush washes, etheral vocals and more of those mid-tempo grooves.
