Limited edition double header of superb early 80s disco-funk classics from Trinidadian singer Jimmy Ross. Originally released on renowned Canadian label Quality Records with musical production handled by Italian super-producers Stefano Pulga and Luciano Ninzatti, also known as Kano, both cuts were given a New York spin in the extended remixes featured here. Paradise Garage legend Larry Levan took over the helm for ‘First True Love Affair’ creating a swirling heavy hypnotic dancefloor bomb. Unbelievably sexy and insanely funky, this rocks the floor every time. On the flip is the long version of ‘Fall into A Trance’ remixed amongst others by Turntable Orchestra’s Hippie Torrales who at the time was resident DJ at New Jersey’s infamous Zanzibar club. Also 100% tuned to the dancefloor, this showcases Mr Ross’s raw soulful vocals perfectly with a sleazy low-slung grinding funk backdrop. Sadly Jimmy Ross only produced a handful of singles during his career but thankfully among them were a couple of the best disco tracks ever made. Essential
