ABOUT THIS ITEM

Where do you start with “Jahmanji!”? The album that Jahmek Power aka Jammer has waited the best part of a decade to make, its 13 tracks in 45 minutes cover just about everything that’s best in contemporary black British music, while throwing in a few shapes and ideas that you won’t come across anywhere else. This grime producer and MC has recruited some of the brightest and most recognisable names from the scene he helped to create and then molded their contributions so that the album is clearly the work of one man’s vision.

So there are vocal contributions here from Skepta, JME and Frisco (the Boy Better Know legends turning up on “10 Man Roll”), Newham Generals (“Bad Mind People”) and Jammin and Hainsy (“One 4 Me”), plus two standout chorus performances from his cousin Camalot (himself a member of BBK), a superb reggae vocal from Lickle J and more soulful contributions from Kivanch and the now very sadly deceased Shiv Lizzy. Meanwhile, production assistance has come from Toddla T (who as well as producing “Party Animal” co-produced the club banger “Back To The ‘90s”), Rapid (“Better Than…”), Mumdance (“10 Man Roll’) and Redlight (“Get It In”). Meanwhile, Jammer showcases a new polyrhymthmic depth to grime on his own productions like “Murkle Mode” and “Walking Duppy”.
