ABOUT THIS ITEM
Seemingly on a continuous touring schedule and therefore not able to write any new material, the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble nonetheless found time to record these five cover versions in Dublin late in 2009. The EP takes in Hypno-tized remakes of hip hop, Afro-beat, pop and indie gems, creating something special. The EP opens with "Prelude", a version of Jay Z's "Kingdom Come Overture", before dropping into an inspired version of "Moments In Love by Art Of Noise ("Moments") - a definite bomb for the bar / beach / BBQ. "Spottie" takes on Outkast's "SpottieOttieDopaliscious" in a skanking reggae style, while "Rainbows" delivers a remake of the Madlib & MF DOOM track, actually scored for HBE by Mos Def! Lastly we get "Water", adding even more brass to Fela's brass-heavy Afro-beat anthem "Water Get No Enemy". Essential!
