Following on from the release of his acclaimed debut mini album ‘With U’ in 2011, Manchester-based producer Holy Other now unveils his debut long player ‘Held’.

Working with the same blend of R&B, UK garage, synthwave and ghost-house that influenced the funereal pop sounds of ‘With U’, Holy Other has moved the pace forward a little, mixing more upbeat tracks with the enveloping layered dreaminess of his previous offerings. While the treated vocals of ‘With U’ are still present, another significant influence during the making of 'Held' was listening to and absorbing Gregorian chants. This new found influence is most keenly felt in the gothy, monastic, otherworldly atmosphere that haunts sections of the album, as well as the ways in which Holy Other uses the voice in a way that sounds devotional and comforting in one instant, and unknowable and distant in another.
