"Free Will" was Gil's third album for Flying Dutchman, originally released in 1972, and just as essential as the first two. It opens with the great jazz-fusion title track before moving into some stripped-down soul and blues. Side B is taken up with a selection of Gil's poetry, backed with Afro percussion and jazz flute. Includes the brilliant "The Get Out Of The Ghetto Blues" and "Did You Hear What They Said".
