Taken from his recent "Seldom Seen Often Heard" album, "Basic Instinct" features the vocals of California MC Abstract Rude (a member of Haiku D'Etat and Project Blowed, affiliated to The Freestyle Fellowship) and comes with new reworks by Natural Self and Ghost himself. This folk-tinged melancholic beat-laden track (this twelve includes vocal and instrumental versions, ditto on the Ghost remix) shows us how good UK hip hop can be if its created by forward-thinking producers. On the remix tip label-mate Natural Self adds a reggae bounce, while Ghost turns out a rework that takes on upbeat jazz breaks for an alt-B-boy flavour. As a bonus you also get the lush instrumental cut "Roundtrip".
