Enigmatic duo G R E A T W A V E S first surfaced on the local music scene in late 2011, submerging listeners in swathes of spacey electric guitar and keyboards layered over synthesised basslines and ethereal samples. Little is known of their musical pre-history, other than that they met while travelling with a gypsy blues band, living in Amsterdam and Hamburg for a while before crossing the channel and heading north.

The band’s growing reputation rests on some spellbinding performances in some of Manchester’s more unusual venues, including warehouses and a disused office block, where hypnotic visuals have added to the paranormal splendour of the music and sense of occasion.

This special edition heavyweight 7” vinyl captures something of the ambiance of their compelling live shows where music becomes textural, almost hallucinogenic, punctuated by imagistic lyrical refrains and languorous moans.  

Limited to just 333 copies, it is presented in a gatefold sleeve, and includes a full colour booklet, digital downloads and an exclusive additional track.
