The seventh edition in Ed Smith's dope 7" edits series strikes back with two fresh jazzy remixes of hip hop classic "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash And The Furious Five. Melle Mel's rap on the track is so brilliant that I'm sure you could blend it into any musical style (musique concrete! Heavy Metal! Easy listening!) and the result would end up sounding fresh, but here Ed Smith drop’s it onto a jazzy funky backing track, and it sounds totally dope. If that wasn't enough we also get a gentle bossa-jazz  blend on the flip with Rhodes keys, vibes and flute, giving "The Message" an even more melancholic touch. As with previous Ed Smith 45s, you know this is a surefire hit for the party. All together now... 'Don't push me 'cos I'm close to the hedge...'
