Eat lights Become lights were formed in London in the winter of 2007 by Neil Rudd. With a deep love of classic German electronic acts of the 1970s, evoking classic kosmische bands, Neu!, Kraftwerk, Can but making the sound very much his own he creates an ever-changing synesthesic landscape of harmony and melody, feedback & drones, played against the driving motorik beat. With the release of the debut single 'They Transmit' in May 2008, ELBL quickly gained critical praise from the likes of the NME, and record of the week slots from Manchester’s Piccadilly Records. The second single Klustered was released in April 2009. A third single Test Drive arrived in February 2011, the B side remixed by music legends Silver Apples. The single was released on a limited edition square, green vinyl format and sold out in only 5 hours.
Gigging heavily since their conception, ELBL have steadily built up a reputation as a formidable live act, the band have played numerous high-profile shows, including a sold-out tour with Silver Apples in addition to being championed by Stuart Maconie on BBC Radio 6 Music’s Freak Zone, Gideon Coe and Andy Weatherall on BBC Radio 6 mix.
'Heavy Electrics' is the follow up to the debut album 'Autopia', championed by Stuart Marconie, Andrew Weatherall, Gideon Last on BBC Radio, as well as gaining positive press in Uncut magazine, The Quietus, Q Magazine. ELBL will be playing shows in and around the UK from September onwards in support of Heavy Electrics. Neil will be playing guitar for Damo Suzuki as part of his backing band later in the year. This is a recurring role and will be the 6th time he has played with Damo. Neil will be working with Simeon of Silver Apples fame later in 2012 on a collaborative project.
