ABOUT THIS ITEM
It's 'Pick-A-Bowie' time again, a new collection of 39 tracks representing 'the best' of this 'musical chameleon'. He's reinvented himself over and over first as a mod, then hippy songwriter, glam rocker (on his 1972 breakthough with "Ziggy Stardust"), 'plastic soulster' on "Young Americans". The list goes on. The Berlin recordings with Brian Eno became highly influential, "Low" (1977), a startling mixture of electronics, pop and avant-garde technique was followed by another classic in "Heroes". The MTV generation made "Scary Monsters" and "Let's Dance" amongst his biggest sellers followed by a commercial and artistic decline before the 1996 techno and drum'n'bass experiment of "Earthling". Clearly a back-to-basics approach was needed - "Hours" revisited the styles of his past work and 2002's "Heathen" garnered praise in all quarters. All his albums are represented here and as a collection how can it fail with so many classic tracks (particularly on disc 1).
